Self Hypnosis

FAQs

What is Self Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state we go into many times every day, somewhere between wide awake and fast asleep, but we only notice the deeper states when this happens naturally and spontaneously, like those times we arrive at our destination and wonder how we got there!! The natural state happened spontaneously, but we can induce this natural state easily by following a simple relaxation technique. In this way Hypnosis is in fact self hypnosis – you will be doing it to yourself, taking yourself into hypnosis following the instructions on the audio. So the closer you follow them, the more relaxed you will become.

What if I find it hard to relax?

Some people do find it hard to relax, this could be for a variety of reasons. Most people do find they are able to relax, even if they’ve struggled before. One thing to keep in mind is that you don’t need to try so hard!! Don’t expect to just immediately relax. Relaxation is a process, and sometimes it will be easier for your than other times. If your mind wanders, that’s ok it’s normal, once you are aware of your mind wandering, gently return it to the sound of the recording. Self hypnosis and relaxation become easier and more effective with practice, just as everything in life. So just continue with your program and you will find that it becomes easier and easier for you to relax and you will begin to enjoy the full benefit of self hypnosis and the hypnosis recordings.

Will I lose control?

In hypnosis, a natural state somewhere between wide awake and fast asleep, you are always in control and will not accept any suggestions you do not agree with. In hypnosis you will not do or say anything against your will.

What does it feel like in hypnosis?

Everyone is different. Some people say that their body feels comfortably heavy, others say they feel lighter as though they’re almost floating. Most people will agree that it’s a lovely feeling because they are more relaxed that they have ever been before. Some people stay at a light level of hypnosis and hear every word on the track, others go into a deep state and think they fell asleep, this is like the feeling we have when we think we fell asleep driving because we can’t remember how we got to work!!

Can I get stuck in hypnosis?

No, hypnosis is a natural state that we spontaneously go into many times a day, a state somewhere between wide awake and fast asleep so it is impossible to get stuck in hypnosis, you will either wake up or fall asleep. Listening to your self hypnosis audios you will be guided into hypnosis and guided to wake back up again into a fully awake state. Do allow yourself some time after listening to your audio to return to a fully wide awake state if you are going to be engaged in something that requires a fully wide awake state, such as driving.

Hypnotherapy has the power to tap into your subconscious mind to bring out traits you already have but want to improve eg more confidence. It can also help you to reduce or eradicate unwanted traits like bad habits, anxiety etc. It cannot add personality traits or change your personality.
